Rally Support

If an Aligned Neutral Hero or any other supporter ever feel as though you are not meeting their expectations, or they know you are about to have a run-in with a particularly tough opponent, they will lend you their aid. This comes in the form of rallying Support, which can be spent to temporarily hire additional Henchman, or even powerful Neutral Heroes.

Calculating Support

Before starting a game both players counts how many overall wins they have. The player with less wins receives 25 gold of Support this game, for each win they have less. If both players are tied for wins, neither receives Support.

For example, Alice has 4 wins and Bob has 2 wins. Bob will get 60g worth of Support for this game.

Spending Support

Henchman and Neutral Heroes can be purchased with Support gold. This gold can only be spent on hiring henchman or Neutral Heroes, and is lost if not spent. Units that are purchased in this way will join the warband for this game only, leaving afterwards. No more than three units can be purchased with Support at a time, but this can temporarily put you above your warband's unit cap.

Henchman Support

Any henchman that you can normally hire as part of your warband (including Large units) can be hired in this way. You still cannot go above the unit cap and the henchman can be equipped with anything they can normally use. Support gold must be used to purchase this equipment. Track which henchman are purchased using Support to ensure Improvements and Scars are tracked correctly.

Neutral Hero Support

Neutral Heroes can be purchased with Support based on the cost listed in their stat block. Only those that you are aligned with can be purchased in this way and have fixed equipment, as noted in their description.

A Neutral Hero cannot be recruited by multiple warbands at the same time. If a warband has a Neutral Hero as their Patron, they always have first pick to recruit them for this game. Otherwise, if multiple players are attempting to recruit a Neutral Hero at the same time, the player with the most Wins recruits them and the other players then reallocate their Support to other units. If players have the same number of wins, decide randomly who recruits the Neutral Hero.

A Neutral Hero cannot be recruited to temporarily fight against a warband that it is the Patron of.

Spending Warband Gold on Support

If a player chooses to, they can spend additional gold from their own warband to purchase Support. This might be done if an underdog is a few gold away from being able to gain an additional unit for this game, or if a player knows they have a critical game against an opponent. Gold spent this way is lost. 1g of warband gold is the equivalent of 2g of Support gold, since a unit is only recruited temporarily in this way.

Special Scenarios

For special scenarios, both players will gain 100 gold of Support, regardless of their number of wins. This is in addition to any Support normally gained by having less wins than your opponent. This gold must be used to hire at least one Neutral Hero, unless all Neutral Heroes you are Aligned with are already recruited by other players.

As with other scenarios, no more than three units can join during a Special Scenario, unless noted otherwise.
